Warning: The following Reader contains spoilers from the season 2 finale of TMNT 2012. Read at your own risk!

September 20th. 2014.

They'd lost everything. Home, friends, family, even their sensai was lost in the fight between the rise of chaos now taking over the city streets. Everything was a blur, but you could still hear the ear-piercing screams of women and children fleeing from their homes, Kraang Droids marching down the streets taking hostages and mutating them into the most horrific sight you'd ever seen. You remember Leo's limp body being hurled through April's window and crashing into the nearby sofa where Mikey had been sitting, the awful sight of his bruised and beaten figure, his mask torn by The Shredder during the fight. You wished so badly to just close your eyes and pray this was all a bad dream, you'd wake up in bed with Mikey sitting on the edge planning another prank to start your day off. Stupid kid, always pulling jumpscares when you lest expected it.

The scene played over and over in your mind, so much that it felt like you were back in New York traumatized all over again. But all you could see now was the night sky passing over what seemed like a neverending road of open crop fields, the silence of your friends either sleeping or trying to recover from everything worrying about the sake of their brother still out cold. You could hear Donnie adjusting a few straps around his bo-staff, every once in a while looking over at you seeing the look of emptiness and fear draining every other emotion from your sweet face. A face that use to be filled with happiness, smiles, laughter, it'd all been locked away replaced with a mournful stare to the point where after almost three hours of non-stop driving he wanted to give some sort of compassion. His chocolate orbs gave a quick gander at April half asleep on Casey's shoulder. They'd been like that since they left the city, you could see the mutant's gaze grieving over the fact she was comforting the raven rather than being back here with you and leaning on him.

This really wasn't the time to start being jealous, but you didn't blame the purple dork for being hurt. After all he'd gone through hell just to keep her out of harm's way, but maybe there was something more to the story than just looks alone. You tried not to pay much attention and drown yourself in what little sanity you could grasp, long enough until the ride stopped outside your new home.

"We're here, turn left on that street and make a hard right."

The red-head's voice broke your trance followed by a sharp jolt of the van jerking you back, tweaking a sensitive muscle in the back of your neck that made you groan in distress reaching up to rub the now tender spot. Of all people HE had to be the one to drive.

"Casey!"

You snapped out of annoyance and pain, not meaning to sound like an ass towards the guy. But he really needed to work on earning that permit he kept blabbing about, if he was so good at hockey then he could do the same for his homework and future license.

The said raven looked over, brushing a few dented nails from his shoulder pad out of the way flashing an embarrassed grin showing off the row of missing front teeth he'd probably knocked out a few years in advanced during hockey season. Everytime you saw him smile, all you could think about was some red-neck that wasted time and energy goofing off rather than getting education; which was pretty much what the guy did day in and day out.

"Sorry [Name], still getting use to these bad boys."

He chuckled hoping to lighten the mood, but all he got was a glare from Raph cradling a sleepy Mikey and a snort from the mutant in the back. Typical. Who else but Casey Jones?

Turning your attention to the quiet little house sitting a few feet away from the cracked driveway he'd pulled into, you gaze lifted at the beautiful country themed home waiting for everyone. You enjoyed visiting the country, ever since you moved to New York the feeling had gone mutual making you forgot what it was like to walk to the kitchen for a glass of water, and not hear the sound of traffic being backed up a few streets down. Maybe things would get better staying out here. At lest until the city was overrun by Kraang or laid to waste by the army.

The engine's familiar rumble had grown silent as everyone piled out and assisted with carrying the eldest. Your gaze lowered at the sight of Leo's body gently being hoisted up and leaned over the hot-tempered mutant's shoulders, honestly that wasn't the way to carry someone but you wouldn't judge a turtle by it's shell. They were brothers after all, and even like one to you since that faithful day you followed April into the sewers wondering why she always took a shortcut down that alleyway to school. Freighting, but overall grateful to have these guys as friends...especially Donatello. Speaking of which.

"Easy there, kinda rocky step down from here. Need a hand?"

A soft chuckle came from the said mutant, offering a three-fingered hand in your direction offering to help get you off the van taking a bit of concern to your silence with driving for so long and that your gaze never left the window once they floored it. You nearly tripped over the blanket Mikey had been sleeping under, his hand firmly grasped your upper arm as you stepped off the vehicle rock n cracks shifting the support under those worn out sneakers you usually wore whenever you were going out.

The purple mutant expressed a compassionate smile, the look in those distorted eyes that were too once filled with joy showed signs of guilt and depression. But nevertheless he still put your needs before his own, wanting to make sure both you and April were gonna be okay through this mess. You appreciated his concern, however you didn't like where his other hand was placed. Knitting your brows together feeling a slight tug of your favorite shirt squeezing a sensitive area, you raised a hand in his direction.

"More like personal space. You dork."

Your bitter tone confused the mutant; perhaps you'd been in the car a little too long enduring the silent treatment from everyone being traumatized. Maybe once you got inside and relaxed everything would be oka-

Squish. Squish.

His spare hand, mounted over your left breast in attempt to catch you if you were to fall off the van being cooped up and unable to stretch those muscles other than laying straight out for the past hour catnapping. Donnie's olive texture, painted with a shade of bright red not expecting to so blindly grope you out of only trying to help you down. You could see the nervous expression slowly growing on his dorky mug, that familiar gap-tooth trembling as he stuttered.

"A-AH! Oh my- I'm sorry- I just-"

A sudden yank of his dangling mask tails caused the mutant to yelp, your hand violently yanked them in place walking off partly dragging him along before letting the fabric snap back in it's usual place. The lavender cloth slapping Donnie on the snout once you released them and followed the others.

"Save your breath. It's been a long night...let's just try and get some sleep."

He should have known better than to let himself get carried away, as if concern for his family wasn't enough to make him uneasy. Adjusting his mask back in place releasing a soft huff of annoyance, he turned gathering what little supplies they'd brought. A medical kit for Leo bandages, alcohol, needle n thread, the works for any sort of situation. His arm was already in need of a change but that didn't matter, he could tough it out till morning and properly fix the wound since April helped with keeping it from getting infected.

You'd always been a stubborn woman when it came to handling her own things, an attitude that spoke "I can handle myself!" and didn't need a man to be there hand and foot to help unless it was something important. Donnie liked that in you, but he wished you weren't so aggressive with it to the point of pushing even him aside.

Creating a pile of odds n ends gathered from the lair, pictures, toys, food, and other supplies that would last for about a week the mutant pressed his elbow against the metal door locking the van in place before trailing after the others who'd already went inside. He noticed how tense you were in that moment of assistance getting out, you spent the entire trip in a daze not speaking to anyone even when Casey made an impression of your strange behavior. Those [ Eye color ] orbs never once turning from the window asking if he needed help, or tending to Leonardo's bruised face. This had been a tragic event for everyone, especially for Donnie. If anything he'd give to go back and stop all this from occurring for your sake, the world they once knew had fallen apart in a matter of hours....things may never be the same after this. He just hoped you stood strong like always, and pulled everyone together in stopping the Kraang once and for all.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few hours went by. After tending to Leo, a few moments of comfort and relaxation from the chaos everyone had crashed in the living room exhausted from it all...almost everyone. Donnie toggled with some of his gadgets that would help them stay under the Kraang's radar for a while until they could gather their strength and return to New York. The thought of Splinter being left back there kept him awake, what if he was still alive? Or worse, dead. Flushed down the city's sewers probably never to be seen again, but then he remembered what Mikey said. Sensai's a strong warrior, he'd never abandon them. He'd find a way out. He needed to quite worrying so much and get some sleep instead of tinkering around with the usual metal objects, besides the Kraang wouldn't find them overnight he had plenty of time to work something up before they even had a chance to track them down. Wasn't easy being the brains of the group.

Flicking the light off over his work desk borrowed for whatever neat little things he'd be working on since the lab was destroyed during the fight, he rose from place feeling some of the fake leather cling to his under shell to go check the others and see if they were okay.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Go! Leave this place!"

"SENSAI!"

"GO MY SONS!"

"MASTER SPLINTER!"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A thriving headache started to make it's way into the mutant's head, the sounds of his master begging them to flee haunted him. He felt so helpless back there, unable to do anything to protect Splinter from being killed, the others felt even worse given Raph's ourburst that would have ripped the city in two if Mikey hadn't calmed him down at the last minute. Rubbing his temples trying to stay positive through this whole thing he started to walk past your bedroom; when something catch his attention.

Tears.

The sound of whimper cased Donnie to stop cold, peering through the crack in the bedroom door upon hearing the change in effects. He saw you sitting on the edge of the bed, weeping quietly to yourself damping your pajamas with fresh diamonds sliding down those rosy cheeks he admired from afar. No wonder you were so silent, you couldn't bring yourself to cry in front of the others the very thought of it embarrassed you. Now in the privacy of your own room, you expressed your grief for those that'd become mutated, the people you befriended and even Master Splinter to a point.

"Why...W-Why did this have to happen?"

He'd never seen you so broken, his heart sank at the sight feeling remorse for your loose. Family, friends, all lost in the whirlwind of Kraang, mutagen, and chaos. Here we was worried about losing his sanity, when the source of it was slowly falling apart right in front of him. Not even having a chance to think about wither or not to leave you to grieve, he'd pushed his way into your bedroom the door expressing a high pitched squeak upon opening.

"...[Name]?"

You jerked your head in his direction, a line of silver clearly seen welling in the corners of your sockets unable to hide from anyone now that'd he'd heard you. You instantly looked the other way curling your fingers along the fabric covering your legs that'd grown sore from all the running and being cooped up in that dingy old van. Though there was no denying you were upset, you didn't want him to worry anymore than he already was about his family being torn apart.

"Leave me alone Donnie...I'm fine."

You managed to choke a few words in the most "Okay" tone you could muster, but that wouldn't fool the turtle into leaving you alone. Refusing to look at him you herd his feet lightly stepping onto the fabricated carpet, walking towards your bedside until his presence was practically unbearable to ignore. The moment he sat down you shuffled away, making him aware you didn't wanna talk or show your face. It was then you felt the mutant's hand reach over, touching your thigh as a small sign of comfort even though you weren't looking at him.

"No your not."

He replied hesitantly moving closer feeling some of the bed sheets tuck themselves under the crook of his shell.

"Yes I am, I'm just stressed that's all. Nothing to be concerned about okay?"

He frowned at your response, once again rejecting his help and need to comfort another person besides Mikey. Not like he was use to that already but still, while you were left with no family for the time being he would do the best he could to make sure you wouldn't suffer alone. He may be a dork, but he knew the emotion when he saw it. Nothing could tell him otherwise.

Lifting the hand from your leg, he curled his index finger under your chin forcing you to look at him despite the wet garment of tears damaging the torn bandages around his mutilated hand. The smooth texture felt like leather against your skin causing you to slightly lean into it as you were met with the mutant's chocolate covered gaze, the moonlight reflecting off them like water showing all the different emotions swirling deep within his troublesome mind. He felt the same sorrow you did, losing the people you cared for the most and everything else that'd been lost back in New York.

" [Name], you don't have to keep hiding anymore. Things may seem bad now, but they'll get better in no time, trust me I'm sure your family is safe."

He paused, searching for the right words to say before slowly spreading his three-fingered grip around your left cheek wiping a small tear from your eye with his thumb shifting a once displeasing frown into a reassuring smile. If you'd stayed strong enough through this mess than so would he.

"I'm not really the best at saying things like this but, you're important to me. Just like Leo and the others. It doesn't matter what happens later on, wither The Kraang take over New York or we stop them together. I'm here for you, and don't ever be afraid to tell me something even if you fear the worst. I wouldn't think of you any less than I do now."

Those words shattered you, he'd taken you apart brick by brick careful not to cause and avalanche in the process with prying those feelings out. For so long you wanted a shoulder to cry on, someone who would take consideration for your needs rather than his own, someone that cared and would be there no matter what the circumstances. All this stress had been weighing down on your shoulders, and in a matter of moments it was lifted by his compassion. He cared so much for you, seeing you cry hurt him unlike anything else. Even Leatherhead's grip didn't amount the sadness watching you crumble.

Gently bringing a hand to the one grazing your cheek you let out a soft whimper suddenly throwing your arms around Donnie's neck, burying your wet face into his shoulder and finally releasing all the buildup that'd been gathering for the past twenty-four hours. You became a mess in the mutant's hold weeping uncontrollable amounts of sobs that were something only he would have the ability to witness. This was the straw that broke the camel's back and he was the one to see it happen.

The force of your body pressing into him caught the turtle off guard for a moment, once he realized you willingly opened yourself up and allowing those heart-wrenching feelings to spill over he graciously slipped both arms around your trembling figure squeezing you close. The hand once cradling your damp cheek now caressing a few fine locks of hair, his presence bringing comfort to your tattered spirit as you continued to weep in the mutant's arms.

"D-Donnie..?"

His head crooked in your direction hearing you mutter his name under the mass of skin absorbing your crocodile tears.

"Hmm?"

Your grip tightened around his neck, lifting your head up to meet with those kind eyes that'd openly expressed one's feelings towards you in a time of need. The leather texture slowly coming into contact with you as you pressed your forehead against Donnie's, a warm mixture of heat coming from his flushed cheeks at the jester.

"Promise me you won't get hurt again...that next time you won't die trying to save your brothers."

He couldn't promise getting hurt again but dying for the sake of family was something he could at lest try to do for you, even though he kinda cornered himself in most situations he wasn't about to let this series of unfortunate events stop him from getting their home back. Resting his hand on the back of your neck, a few locks of hair curled around his index finger playfully as the mutant bit his low lip in a moment of hesitation, he leaned forward gently grazing his lips along the thin, sensitive outline of your own silently agreeing to your request of staying alive so you wouldn't be alone. Being a ninja had it's ups and downs, but as long as he had you...that's all that mattered. He'd probably get an earful of this from Mikey if anyone were to find out, but he knew these feelings couldn't be contained any longer and wanted to let you know how he truly felt.

To his surprise you returned the affection, tears streaming down your face once again overwhelmed by this new feeling pouring itself into the empty void that'd been eating on you since. That tiny flame started to flicker, one thought to have burned out years ago returning with an even greater passion for the masked mutant.

After an exchange of silence, breaking the lip lock that seemed to last an eternity two words left the turtle's lips losing himself in that dazzling gleam that seemed to always hold a sparkle in your eyes. Something he admired for quite sometime.

"I promise...[Name]."
SO HOW ABOUT THAT SEASON FINALE?!

Run over by the local feelz train.

I'm still trying to recover from the mass of feelz I endured watching the last few episodes of TMNT this week, honestly Nick completely went apeshit over details and a dark landscape for a show that's originally designed for kids. [ Way to go Nick, love your imput but god dang that was just- ] Probably the most heart-wrenching, deep, serious group of episodes I've seen in a long time since I got into the fandom. ~

So hey, yeah this is my first "Reader X ___" thing I've done, or any sort of detailed fan fiction for that matter. It's been a while and honestly my fingers are on fire along with my brain throbbing trying to find the right words, I apologize if Donnie seems a little OOC or some scenes are jumbled up like I said I'm still getting use to the whole "Reader" input. For some reason I get more detailed roleplaying with friends than I do typing out a fan fiction, weird but true eventually I'll get the hang of it.

Plus, there isn't a lot of Donnie readers far as I can tell so here's another one for the bandwagon. Sorry to disappoint any fangirls that were looking for something sexual to read, maybe I'll do that next time if I have and idea for it or even bother picking up another Reader. xD

Well anyways, enjoy! Let me know what you think in the comments below afterwards.

Wow. Just...wow. The episodes itself at the end of season 2 broke my heart into little pieces, and then stomped on them with cleats. And this story just did it for me. This is amazing, considering Nick DID go apeshit with details and heartbreak. They made it so grown-up, which was what kept me crying. I enjoyed this little story regarding the episode, and really want more.
And with Leo's state, and the mutation, and the heartbreak, I'm not sure TMNT can be considered a kids show anymore. Might as well be marked for teens, huh? But again, I absolutely love it. Please make another one. Ciao~!
